Description
This course offers instruction in the basics of producing audio news stories for broadcast and podcast. Students will learn best practices in audio reporting, writing, storytelling, producing and presenting. You will use professional field-recording equipment and will edit in ProTools.There will be a focus on learning to identify and execute the key elements of different types of audio news segments. There will be practical training and exercises in interviewing, writing for the ear, voicing and the effective use of sound. You will be introduced to ethical issues in the field of audio journalism, and you will learn best practices for including a diversity of voices and perspectives in your audio stories. The class emphasizes short form audio news and features, and you will learn by producing your own audio work. The course includes a live-to-tape team newscast challenge that will give you a hands-on introduction to our professional radio studio.
