The Master’s in Engagement Journalism is for people who love journalism and want to use their skills as reporters and editors in new ways. You’ll start with Newmark’s rigorous foundation in reporting, writing, editorial judgment, and ethics. From there, you’ll build fluency in the skills newsrooms need now: audience-centered storytelling, product design, data analysis, impact measurement, and the business strategy that keeps journalism sustainable. Throughout, you’ll learn to treat audience engagement as an editorial practice that begins at the reporting stage.

You’ll graduate prepared to navigate journalism’s crisis of trust, ready to reach and serve audiences of any size with journalism that makes a difference in their lives, and to help build news organizations that can last. Public service stays at the center of the work. Our graduates hold some of the fastest-growing roles in the industry, including Audience Development Manager, Engagement Editor, News Product Editor, Analytics Manager, Newsletter Editor, and more, in newsrooms of all sizes, from global institutions to one-person startups.
